For almost all of the nearly thirty years we have been in business we have relied on the D3 database as a platform for our medical billing software. Over this time many companies have promised a similar solution, but they were never able to meet our standards. Compared to the newcomers, D3 remained better at speed, data integrity, and having a solid multi-value environment to work in.
That was right up until we met with InterSystems. As hard as it was to imagine at the time, their Caché database impressed us very much. When it comes to medical billing, speed is often the highest request. Billers need to be able to enter data quickly and access to that data has to be fast no matter how many patient transactions you have. Even initial tests proved that through Caché our closed-loop processes could be completed in a fraction of the time.
Of course, handling claims quickly means nothing if the data is not protected from theft or loss. Clients who use us as their practice management software provider rely on our record of secure and stable storage of patient information. Electronic medical records are an excellent resource, but only if you can absolutely trust in their storage. In Caché we found a robust database that is worthy of that trust.
Even those two core strengths would be not enough to make the leap if Caché was not capable of performing everything we already do. Our software is based on a multi-value structure, and Caché was not just compatible; it took multi-value programming to the next level. With Caché we would not have to rewrite our software, we just had to migrate it over and immediately gain extra tools that were not available before.
In addition to automatically giving us SQL access to our data, Caché gave us an easy way to create new user interfaces. Many of our clients already use our Signature Scheduler, which is entirely web based, to have the same powerful features delivered in a whole new way.
The march is on to move all of our clients to the new database. Every week more clients will be shifted to Caché and we have no doubt they will be just as impressed as we were. But all of our breakthrough solutions will now be faster, more reliable, and more innovative than before.
