SGR Cut Temporarily Avoided

The House of Representatives have just voted via "Unanimous Consent" to approve the two-month postponement of the SGR related cut, among other things. This action follows the Senate's passage of the two-month "fix" last week. The bill now goes to President Obama, who is expected to sign the legislation.

How do you avoid the same fate?

Check your service address
First, confirm that your billing provider and service facility addresses are complete street addresses with a full 9-digit ZIP code, not a PO Box or lock box.

Confirm the NPI
Second, confirm that you are using the National Provider Identifier, or NPI, and not an employer identification or Social Security Number as the primary identifier on your claim.

Version 5010 Update!

Healthpac Computer Systems, Inc. is testing on behalf of all sites with clearinghouses and payers/carriers across the country in preparation for the 01/01/2012 mandate for the Version 5010 transaction. Sites like yours will be updated and involved directly when applicable. All Healthpac sites will be ready to file production status claims in the 5010 version as mandated.
We expect to be involved in the testing process in some way with for the remainder of 2011. We will continue to send updates as they are applicable and available.

E-Prescriber Notice from HBMA

E-prescribers are required to use a qualifying e-Rx system and report the proper G Code (G8553) on at least 10 Medicare Part B claims from Jan. 1-June 30, 2011, to avoid the 2012 penalty.
