1.Can the system scan insurance cards?
Yes, the front and back of the insurance cards can be scanned and viewed, and attached to the patient's account.
2.Can the system scan the patient's driver's license?
Yes. You can scan multiple items to a patient's account including driver's license or picture ID. This is another step toward HIPAA compliance. When a patient visits your window, you can pull his/her picture and verify that they really are that patient BEFORE you release medical records, x-rays or give out private patient information.
3.Would we be able to scan miscellaneous documents like medical release, PHI disclosure release and skin tests and attach it to that patient for future review?
Yes. There is no limit to what can be scanned into the system.
4.Does the system "remember" the patient you were working on in the previous screen to be "hot keyed" into the current screen?
Yes. There are several "hot key" functions.
5.Can patient bills be customized to our practice?
Yes. In addition, the system can be set up to send a different remark each time they are billed for the same balance. For example, on the second bill you may want to say "Your balance is 30 days past due. Please send a payment promptly". The third bill may say, "We have not received a payment on your account. Your account will be eligible for collections in 10 days".
6.Would management/administration have the capability to edit the patient bill, encounter forms and reports locally without involving tech support?
Yes. The reports are user defined.
7.Is the system set-up for user specific log in and password-protected entry? Can every transaction in the system be traced back to that user?
Yes. Every movement is stamped with the user, date and time information. Everything can be tracked and reported.
8.Can the system be set to auto-log off users after a determined period of time?
Yes. This is called a "sleep mode" and the user must log back into the program with his/her password upon return. This is another step in HIPAA compliance.
9.Can user access be defined locally by management/administrator?
Yes, this is a standard process to grant or restrict access. With a simple "yes" or "no", management can allow a user to have access to demographics but not all of them the ability to view financial/account information and more.
10.Is the system equipped with interoffice email?
Yes.
11.Can you open or work on more than one patient at time?
Yes. You can open an unlimited number of patients/windows.
12.How are CPT and ICD-9 codes updated within the system?
Healthpac will assist in automatically updating these files upon receipt of your authorized copy from AMA. Updates can also be performed manually.
13.Can the daily (EOD) report show patient cash, patient checks, credit cards and insurance check totals separately?
Yes.
14.How will the satellite locations connect to the system?
Via the Internet preferably DSL.
15.Can I directly connect to my insurance carriers and transmit HIPAA compliant claims?
Yes. With the Healthpac software, you will transmit 837/4010A HIPAA compliant formatted claims. You can also download and process 835 remittance.
